Hump Day and Heat

Day 195 of 365:

Happy Hump Day?  Happy Half-Way-Through-The-Week Day?  Sure, why not.

Oh the heat today – wow.  Humidity and high temps don’t usually bother me, you know that, right?  I am a total summer girl – but my goodness.  Even I’ll admit I was feeling more than a little sweaty today.  And yes, it kinda got to me.

But giving the garden a drink and letting the water wash over my bare toes was nice…a fun way to bring down my internal thermometer a few degrees….

And that’s all I have for today.  A crazy-busy work schedule kept me from doing any writing and I don’t really have the energy anyway.  Though my novel was on my mind quite a bit as I made a two-hour commute in my car this afternoon.  Long drives are excellent for sorting things out in your head.  I suppose I could do some work tonight on the old WIP, but….well…..I won’t.  I’ll just go to bed, hot and sweaty and exhausted, and then get up with the birds at 5 am tomorrow morning and power though a couple of thousand words.  Same old, same old.

Why do I feel like I am rambling?

Gonna go back outside and finish watering my garden, I think…maybe splash around a bit in the sprinkler.  They say that tomorrow is going to be even hotter….

Namaste and keep cool, where ever you are.

-Janice 🙂

Look Up. {#4}

Day 194 of 365:

{Weekly Photo Challenge: Look Up.}

Fourth post using this week’s photo challenge theme?  Sure, why not.  I am having fun with this one.  It might have something to do with the fact that, when it comes to physical stature, I am what you might call “vertically challenged”.  I spend most of my time looking up at things because I am so damned short….  🙂

Also, the act of looking brings a sense of optimism, and I think just lately, we could all use a little more of that.  Figuratively speaking.

I would also like to point out that I dusted off my real camera for this shot, something of rarity for me these days….  IMG_2337Clematis.  I have tons and tons of this climbing vine in my front garden. It’s a lovely, cascading waterfall of purple petals.  So here I am, looking up at – all 10 feet of it.

I am so glad I had the good sense to grab my “real” camera to take this shot.  I love the way that purple came out, all rich in texture, captivating, and splendid.

How about you?  What do you look up at?

Namaste,

-Janice 🙂

Post-it

Day 193 of 365:

{Motivate Me Monday}

Sometimes I write little post-it notes to remind myself to do things.  Actually, it’s more than just sometimes.  It write notes to myself all the time……so here’s my Monday Morning Mantra.  A gentle, firm, reminder that I will post to my bulletin board:

dear me

Should do the trick to get my butt in gear today, huh?

:p

Namaste,

-Janice 🙂

Day 192 of 365:

{Simple, Single Image on Sunday}

{Weekly Photo Challenge: Look Up}

Looking up at my downward on a Sunday morning…..  20160710_082648

(yes, a little yoga before I settle into a day of sitting at my desk writing.  I needed an extra bit of stretching and mind centering this morning as I set my sights on completeing the chapter I am currently muddling my way through.)

Happy Sunday!

Namaste,

-Janice 🙂

Saturday: Up {#2}

Day 191 of 365:

{Simple, Single Image on Saturday}

{Weekly Photo Challenge: Look Up}

My view as I tackled my most hated chore: Vacuuming the stairs.  (blah)

20160709_132128

Long way up, isn’t it?  And with each step, as I mutter and curse the dust, hair and sock lint, I wonder if it would be easier to rip the carpeting up or shave the dogs bald…or move to a house with no staircases?

Happy Saturday,

-Janice 🙂

Friday: Up {#1}

Day 190 of 365:

{Simple, Single Image on Friday)

{Weekly Photo Challenge: Look Up}

Looking up through the leaves on the dogwood bush in my back garden.  Up through foliage, darkened and back-lit against a fading sky, heavy with clouds, late on a hot summer day….

20160708_203018 Happy Friday!

Namaste,

-Janice 🙂

Stumble

Day 189 of 365:

{One Word Writing Prompt: Darkness}

I sat and struggled with this word for about an hour.  I approached it from just about every angle I could, but finding meaning for darkness is….hard.  For me.

Maybe I’m not in the mood.  Maybe it’s just not a noun that grabs me in any particular way.  I get that darkness can be felt, that it can be physically experienced and that it can be intimidating.  Maybe I don’t like the dark?  No….that’s not it either….

20160707_200913

Funny how I’m stumbling blindly as I try to elucidate on this word – I am totally in the darkness here:  I can’t see a thing.
