It seems to me that as the leaves on the trees are getting brighter and more vibrant – the flowers in the garden are beginning to fade away.

I am enjoying the visual splendors this transitional period.  The plants and flowers are shedding their summer tones – quietly turning themselves “off” as the growing season draws to a close.

I personally love the mixed hues of these Hydrangea flowers.  They were beautiful and serene when they started out white and cream – but the pale green they became is downright dreamy.

The delicate brown of the fading petals may signal the end is near, but it is happening at a relaxed pace.

It is as if a dial is slowly turning down the volume in the garden.  This is a spectacle I simply must capture with my camera, one plant at a time.
